Even More Shopping...

Oh my gosh...every day, I swear, I'm either at Lowes, Home Depot or BOTH!!  I think I need to just get a job there!!  After my shopping I made a trip to the auction again and look at what I found!!!  How cute would this sink look in the bathroom with my clawfoot tub??  LOVE IT!!  Probably going to have to have someone bid on it for me tomorrow night!!  :)

We're trying to get the "finishes" finalized for the kitchen and these are what it has been narrowed down to.  Basically...the only difference is weather we do a stained island with light countertop or a painted island with a dark countertop.  This decision seems so final...and I really like both looks.  How am I EVER going to decide?

Dark Walnut flooring, Soft White Wall Cabinets with wooden countertop, soft white island cabinets with dark/black Silestone countertop and tumbled backsplash.

Dark Walnut flooring, Soft White Wall Cabinets with wooden countertop, stained knotty alder island cabinets with tigris sand Silestone countertop and tumbled backsplash.

Well...today is not the day that I'm going to decide.  I'll have to mull it over for awhile  :)

Countertops...hmmm....

Mmmmm....Jimmy Johns!  (and lunch with Kade, yeah!)  Today we had to go pick up some more plumbing supplies...can I just tell you...plumbing takes FOREVER!!  So we went and scoped out some possible countertop options at a store next to Plumbers Supply.  We know we want to do the wood countertop on the main part of our cabinets (against the wall), but we're still thinking about possibilities for the island.  I'd LOVE to have a big flat surface that I can roll pie dough and fondant out on!  We're thinking about Silestone, but just can't decide for sure...that's an expensive commitment!

My favorite place to eat!  :)
I had to go by the auction on my way home...and look what I found...This newly painted but old white cabinet!  I LOVE IT!!  Gotta have it!!  It will be mine, oh yes....it will be mine  :)  Anybody know what that's from?  (just replace it with she...Wayne's World, lol!)  Does anyone ever remember Wayne's World anymore?  Anyway...it's going to be for sale on tomorrow night...so we might have to take a break and go to the auction instead!

This must be mine!!  Isn't it so cute??
So here are a couple of countertops that I liked...the top one is called Tigris Sand.  It's kind of a beige & white color.  I REALLY like it.  It's not sparkly or anything.  This one is quartz and it's made by Silestone.  The salesman is going to email me with a price...we'll see how horrible it is, lol!

Tigris Sand Silestone

A couple Cambria colors...Buttermilk is the top and I can't remember the bottom two, lol.  I must have really liked them, NOT...Buttermilk was my favorite...and it was pretty much exactly the same as the Tigris Sand from Silestone!
I guess I'm just going to have to keep shopping!  There's SOOOOO much to pick out!  It's a bit overwhelming!  Who's idea was it to tear this house apart??

Clawfoot Tub....YEAH!!

So I've been "storing" a couple of clawfoot tubs for probably 10 or 11 years now...just sure that at some point I would be able to convince Kade that they really NEEDED to be in our house  :)  Well today we finally drug one of them out...and he's actually going to let me use it!!  YEAH!  It is going to need refinishing though...which I think I am going to try and do myself (am I crazy or what....ummm...YESSSS!!!)  So here it is in all of its glory!

Old green chippy and peeling paint!

Ugh...that's not looking so hot on the inside, yikes!
Well, I don't usually let a little work scare me off...and looking at these pictures that's a really good thing, ha ha!  Soooo, I need to get this bad boy cleaned up and ready to be installed.  Now I'm going to have to pick out a fancy faucet and drain too, how fun!  Looks like I've got something to do with my spare time now too (umm, wait, spare time?) I'm going to have to research refinishing a clawfoot tub!

Decisions Made!!

Well...we've committed now!  Cabinets for the kitchen/mudroom/laundry and pantry.  And GEO-THERMAL for the HVAC!  Let's get it rollin'!  Wow...that was difficult, lol.  I think it's that we just didn't want to spend the money...but we knew that we had to!  Here's the general layout for the cabinets.

I'm sure I've changed a few things since I did this layout...(like the counter top color)

Island View.  7' of counter top...that's going to be great for baking!

Laundry side of the clutter room...clothes baskets will go in the tall cabinet on the right

Pantry side of the clutter room.

We could also do the cabinets like this...but I think I like the pic above better.

Not sure where my pic went of the mudroom...maybe I never saved one....will have to do that soon!

Turney's are getting our GeoThermal system ordered...so that'll be going in in probably two weeks or so....YEAH!!  Need to get the plumbing done in that time.  Kade can work on the electrical and then we can start hanging drywall so that I can work on finishing during the day!  Then change will REALLY be happening.  I can't wait!

Oh....had a little visitor today laying out on the patio...and enjoying this amazing weather...

That's my truck tire in case you were wondering!  It was TINY!  Maybe 8 or 9 inches!

Still need to look up what kind it is...probably just a water snake of some type.

Got the new sink cleaned up....love it!  Now I have to find a new faucet for it!

The daffodils are blooming at the new house too...along with a bunch of other things...

Gotta say..my iphone is impressing me with it's picture taking abilities!

Wonder what else is planted at the new house...it will be interesting to see.
(I shouldn't even be thinking about what's outside...I need to focus on INSIDE right now!)

A Beautiful Day!

Wow...can't believe how nice the weather was today!  I decided I'd better go try and buy that dresser that I want to use as a vanity in our hallway bath.  Yesterday we worked on plumbing all day, so we're getting to a point where we really need to know EXACTLY what's going in each room.  Good news...it was still there...remember it?

I think that'll be so cute!

While I was there they also had this...love it...I'll probably end up refinishing it...but maybe I'll leave it chippy for awhile.  Since both were from the same seller I made a deal and got both for $350!! Yeah!

Saw this too....might have to turn that into the vanity in the basement bathroom!

Found this sink too...it's an old pegleg pedestal (I forgot the leg at the antique store though)

Bought it to try and do something like this...

I love how the sink sits on top of the cabinet.

Got this cart too...from the same seller as the sink...$50 for both!  I wanted one of these to put on the pantry side of the laundry room at the end of the cabinets.

It would go right there to the left of the base cabinets.  Cute!

A very productive day of shopping I would say.....and IT'S ABOUT TIME!!  :)

There's Only So Much More We Can Distroy!!

Well...today we made even a bigger mess!  Is that even possible??  It started with some cleaning...the Harman guys came over and helped get all of the big stuff out of the basement...the fridge, freezer, shower, and a bunch of other misc. stuff.  They were like a tornado...without the damage :)  In and out in no time at all.  We were SOOOO thankful for their help.  Soon as they left, the time had come for us to jackhammer the floor so we can start the plumbing soon and get the new stuff in place!  So...Mike & Johnny Harman stayed to help...so nice.  While Mark & Jeff headed to the auction to get some work done.

Kade on the shovel and Johnny on the Jackhammer.

I went to get lunch and barely made it back quick enough to get my hands on the jackhammer!
I had NO IDEA it would go so quickly!!

There's Mike just about to finish it up...and my Dad being the onlooker.  :)

There's our damage so far.  We still need to break up one part though...over there in the corner by the toilet.  Where the boards are laid out is where our new walls down here will be.

So all in all it was a good day.  The weather was great, and a lot was accomplished!
Here's hoping for many more!  :)

Another Wall Up!

Finally, we rebuilt the wall that the termites took down!  Gotta figure out what I'm going to do down the walls inside the stair well now.  I'd love to do some kind of old siding or something, but not sure how that would look.  Hmmm...too many creative ideas running around in my head right now...and I don't want a house that looks like a bunch of pieces...I want it to all go together nicely.

Still need to fasten the wall to the floor and foundation wall with concrete screws.

Building that wall back really made it feel closed up again!

A Little More Demo!

Update on Kade's fingers....see the purple in the middle of his middle finger and on the tip of his pointer...that's about 4 days after impact.  It's still hurting...he still can't really type, but it's getting better every day!

So here's what we're working on now.  Today we tore out the 3/4 bath that was in the basement.  When we were working on the new floor plan, Kade decided it would be much more usable in the middle of the basement...and I would have to agree.  He figured we'd already gone this far...so why not  :)

Don't you think the plain concrete was much less offensive than the lemon yellow and the avocado green??  I've GOT to get that painted...and soon!  Why does it seem like renovations always go SOOOOO slow??
