LAST ROW!

Finally, it was time to put the first coat of paint on the cabinet boxes.  I worked on that today while Kade was at work.  They're lookin' better already!

You can't even see where any of my nail holes are, lol.

Coverage is not quite as good as I had hoped.  I'm using flat paint for these cabinets, and will put a few coats of polyurethane on when I'm finished.  I've found that is what works the best for us.

FINALLY!!  The hardwood is mostly down.  Now it's just closets and edge peices!

I thought this day would NEVER come!

Cabinet Doors

Here we go...I'm afraid it is going to take me FOREVER to get all of the cabinet doors painted for the clutter room.  There's something different about this time.  I've painted cabinets a few times, but for some reason I'm much more nervous about doing it this time.

I used my DIY door drying rack

and it worked really well.  I sanded all of the cabinets doors, just like I did with the cabinet boxes.  You don't really have to be too organized about this.  I used the B-I-N primer again which is sandable, so you just want to make sure you cover everything, and you should be fine.  Next step will be trying out that paint sprayer and putting the paint on!  As soon as this is done we'll be able to go pick up the washer/dryer and refrigerator!  YEAH!!

The Day Has Come

That's right...say goodbye to the hickory stained cabinets and hello to the WHITE clutter room.  I know for some of you this is like a major sin...but my vision was always to have a crisp clean clutter room.  I finally broke out the sandpaper today and got to work.

I didn't do a heavy sanding down to the bare wood

just enough so that my primer will stick. 

Notice how the finish isn't shiny anymore.

I'm pretty sure that I pick THE MOST labor intensive projects EVER!

I was even a good girl and taped paper over the tile floor so that I didn't make a super mess!

When Kade got here tonight we figured out the spacing for the kitchen faucet.

Hole cutting bits are fabulous things!

Now we just need to get the trim done around the windows so that we can get the backsplash up and then actually INSTALL the faucet.

Next on the agenda....prime the clutter room cabinets.  Lets get this show on the road!

It's Finally In!

Since Scott is home for Thanksgiving we had him help move the kitchen countertop in today...that bad boy is HEAVY!  Kade and I have moved it a few times, but I just couldn't do it today.

There it is in all of its glory!

It fit PERFECTLY on top of the sink.  Kade is amazing :)

Another cabinet will be stacked on the countertop in this corner.

I'm SO glad that we decided to do the wooden countertops again...there's just something about them.  Pretty sure I'll do them in EVERY house we ever live in!!

We also got the upper cabinets installed in the mudroom.

I love the way that turned out.

Now we just need to figure out what's going to go on the back wall...

put it there...and then put the coat hooks!!

I got all of the hardware on the base cabinets.

It took me so long to decide which ones we were going to use.  I've probably got 10 knobs and 3 or 4 pulls that I tried, lol.  Obsess much??

I love these....simple cup pulls and plain knobs in oil rubbed bronze.

Silestone Quartz!! A mileSTONE!

Finally we got our quartz countertop!!  We decided on the color Tigris Sand.  It's kind of beige with whitish bits throughout.  I figured it would be a good compliment to the soft white cabinets.

 

They had to bring it in through the garage....pretty sure that was the easiest way to go.

Here it goes....That thing looked SO heavy!

Wait....WHAT IS THAT???  Ugh.

Turns out they chipped the countertop on the cart when they were wheeling it in.

They tried to fix it...but it's right on the top edge...and I'm sorry, but I just can't pay full price for something that is NOT new (chipped=not new)

Chipped right above the trash cabinet (where the trash cans go) which is also right in the middle of the island...and right behind the sink on the wall cabinets.  So that would also be known as THE WORST PLACE EVER FOR A CHIP!!  Now I'm going to have to email the company and see what we can do about it.  Why.....WHY???

Looking at it from afar it looks pretty good though doesn't it?
