Celebrate!

Today was an exciting day!  We got to install 2 (yes, that's right, TWO) of our appliances!!  WOO-HOO!  It's looking more and more like a home every day!

We started out with the micro-hood....looks pretty nice there I'd say!

We got this for one heck of a deal!  $99 at Best Buy...regular price was $399!
It was an open box they were selling...and the guy gave us the mounting bracket from a different one so we actually had all of the parts except the screws!  SWEET!

Then we FINALLY got to bring in the stove that I bought LAST July!
Yes, you read that right, July 2012!

The kitchen is just about complete now!
I've just gotta get that mess cleaned up!

We even got the kitchen faucet installed...LOVE IT!

We got the laundry faucet installed too!

A VERY productive day!  So much so that we decided we'd take the night off and go to the 4th of July Celebration and watch our friends, The Harmans do a little bluegrass show!

What a gorgeous night it was!  The guys did awesome...and to top it off, we got to spend some time with some old friends of ours that we NEVER get to see anymore!

Love them both so much and miss them to bits!

Their three adorable kiddos were there as well.
I sure wish we got to see them all more often!

Laura & Sidney were both freezing (actually...we were ALL freezing)
This has been some AMAZING summer weather!  Couldn't ask for better!

I even managed to snap a couple of cute pics of Jeff & Sidney when they weren't looking.

Happy 4th of July everyone!!

Nature Callshttps://www.blogger.com/blogger.g?blogID=8932440352346057801#allposts

Well, its been an interesting weekend around here!  My sister came over to pick raspberries and she ended up finding a little snake!

I'm not gonna lie...he's cute...but I'm probably NOT going to pick him up :)

HOWEVER...

Look at this little guy!!  HOW CUTE!

I found him on my begonias and we had to have a little "photo shoot"
Ok...enough of them...back to work for us.

Kade started working on getting the clawfoot tub into place so he can get the drain, etc. all hooked up.  Don't you like our way of moving it around?

Yeah baby...that's an ATV jack :)  It's the only thing I could of that would make possible for us to be able to move that tub around without having to call for help every time we need to move it 3"!
Seems like it's going to work!

Isn't this lovely?  This would be my Dad's work boot.  I am starting to be convinced that this house/property is trying to kill us all!  Dad was mowing back behind the house (on the hill near the lake) and slipped and fell.  His foot went under the mower and this was the end result!  He is SO LUCKY that he didn't loose part of his foot.  He did cut in to his toe though...and it bled a LOT (as you can see)  Once again...he's VERY lucky!

Tile Sealed and Sink In

This is a step that you don't see when you're done...but you'll be glad that you did it!  We used this on our last kitchen (well, an old version of this stuff) and we never had any trouble with our grout.  With this kitchen being so light there was no question if we wanted to do it or not.

Goes on easy and dries quickly!  It's not cheap though.

We also got the kitchen and laundry sinks caulked tonight.

Just look at that pristine caulk line, lol.
I'm so OCD about this stuff it's not even funny.

Got the laundry sink caulked in place too!
Gotta love a galvanized tub sink.

The drain is caulked into place too....lets hook up some water!!
HOW CUTE IS THIS??
Hopefully it lasts awhile!  If not...we did make sure to cut the hole for it (and the faucet) within an area that could easily be re-cut to hold a 25" single bowl sink.

Trimin' it Out

Worked on some more trim work tonight!  I finished painting those window aprons today so that we could go to town tonight!!  Doesn't it look great?  I'm so glad we went to the extra work (ha, I can say that now, lol)

Sunroom trim is all up

Dining Room trim is all up.

New view from the sitting area out to the sunroom.
What a mess we have on that table!!  :)

Kitchen window trim is up.  I need to take a closeup of that!

We even got the chair rail installed in the half bath.
Remember that we've got pocket doors in BOTH walls of that little room.
That meant NO NAILS to hold the chair rail up on the front half of each of those walls.

Solution:  Silicone (Kade LOVES silicone now!)
So we used silicone and I used an old shower curtain rod to put pressure on both sides!
Hopefully it will work and not slide down during the night, lol!

Don't Forget Your Apron

Your window apron that is!  Just look at 'em all!  We actually put them together over a few days...and today I worked on filling holes and caulking their joints so I can get them painted.

Exciting!  This will be the finishing piece of trim for all of the windows!!

Each apron is 6 total pieces.
3 cove moulding (mitered on each end) and 3 simple baseboard (mitered on each end)

These two are for the kitchen windows....
for some reason we just weren't diggin' a full blown apron in there.

Just about ready to go up!

I think they turned out awesome!  I need to apologize to my husband for making EVERYTHING so much harder than it needs to be....but IT LOOKS AMAZING!!

So I'm sitting there working this afternoon and hear a loud falling noise...
hmmmm.....what on earth was that??
Look around, don't see anything....go outside and look at the roof...

dang!  We have GOT to get this tree taken down!

This is the second limb that it has dropped on the house!  I had to climb up there in my flip flops so I could take a pic and send it to Kade at work :) One of these times we may not be so lucky and it may do some actual damage!  Add this to the list of things to do asap!

Tedious to say the least!

Well, right now it seems like I'm in one of those places where you work non-stop and you NEVER see any results!  I've been filling holes and caulking trim.  UGH!

I tried to work "around" the clawfoot tub...ha!
I was squeezed in there sideways in some places!  Crazy!

Got all of the holes filled in the master closet!  It makes such a mess!
(I guess everything about construction makes a mess, lol!)

All we need are window aprons and the trim in here will be done!

I am absolutely LOVING how everything is coming together!

Master bedroom....lookin' good!

Sitting area (currently housing the dining room table)

Hey!!  Where's my tape measure??
Seriously...we both always go to the same tape measure (everyone has a favorite, right?)
so the other day at Lowes I decided to get another one so I'd have one and Kade would have one...
this is the end result...and it was NOT a setup!  He REALLY hogged up both tape measures!
He is such a mess!

Another Finishing Touch

Sanded caulk!  Yep....that's right...sanded caulk.  Color matched to your grout color...and it is  AWESOME!!  :)  I am quite fond on caulk anyway...but caulk to match your grout...even better!

Behind the stove.....DONE!

Kitchen backsplash....DONE!

Laundry sink backsplash.....DONE!

Pantry backsplash.....DONE!

That's right...I just said done 4 times!!
WOO-HOO!

Here's a little glimpse into how detail oriented I am.

Looks pretty good doesn't it?  Gotta install the sink & faucet now!

You can't even tell where the grout ends and caulk begins!  YEAH!

Now it's time to get the window & door headers finished up!
