A Sticky Mess

We got all of the old window jambs pulled out from the sunroom now...talk about a mess!

They used double stick tape....great for creating a seal...

but also great for making a mess!!

All of the new jambs are finished and just waiting to be put in!

See that sticky adhesive mess?  I spent about 8 hours with an adhesive remover and a razor blade just scraping that off.  Bleh!  Just an FYI...I don't recommend using Goof Off for this...the fumes were a bit loud in my opinion :)  FINALLY I think we can install the new jambs though!  Whew!

Laundry & Pantry Cabinets

Finally...a room that's actually looking like something!  Today we installed the Laundry and Pantry cabinets in the clutter room!  I still need to paint them white, but that doesn't have to happen now, lol.  This is the room that we were able to purchase a display and then add a few more cabinets to make something that will work....and I think it will work WONDERFULLY!  Now we just need tile, grout, lot of paint and trim :)  Done in no time right?  lol.

This is the laundry side....the washer & dryer will stack on the left (which we still need to pick out)  And then a sink in the middle....and that giant cabinet on the right is for the laundry baskets!!!  Pretty sure that's my most favorite thing in this room!  I'm going to love not having to look at the dirty clothes!

And here is the pantry side.  Pull outs are in the tall cabinet...then lots of regular storage for other stuff!  Awesome!  I can't wait to start organizing!

Signs, Signs, Signs!

That's what I did today!  :)  Gotta keep some of my favorite boys in business! (and do my "real" job I guess, lol)  At least the weather was nice - not 104 when I put my last batch together!  I think they look pretty nice!

So we went tonight and got the supplies to start making the wooden countertops.  Looks pretty funny doesn't it?  16' boards in a 6' truck bed :)  We used the toilets to hold the boards in place (and straps of course!)  Not sure I'm ready for this big project yet!  Why do I do this??

More Sunroom Fun

Finally I started to paint the sunroom.  Because the pine is so knotty, I decided to use some B-I-N Primer first to try and block out those ugly yellow spots!

You can see that the primer didn't really do a great job of covering, but it does appear to have blocked the knots!  I guess only time will tell though.

Had to give the ceiling a fresh coat of paint too...it looked so dirty.  Don't you love the saran wrap on my head?  Hey...it's what you do when you don't have a hat  :)

Finally getting somewhere with the paint.

It only took 3 days, 1 coat of primer and 3 coats of paint!!!  Now we need to build new window jambs.  The new wood walls are much thicker than the drywall & paneling that was out there before.

Vanity Repair!

You remember that old dresser that I bought to turn into a vanity....well...I worked today on removing the "gunk" on that had built up under the mirror over the years.  Was hoping that I could just blend the new finish into the old....but I'm not so sure that's going to be possible now.  Imagine that, lol!

I sure thought the sink hole I cut was a little more even, lol.

Here's a reminder of what we started with:
We're going to use the mirror in the 1/2 bath.  See where the mirror frame is though...that's where all of the old finish was really thick.  We'll see how it turns out.

GROUTED Tub Surround!! DONE!!

Well, we FINALLY grouted the tub surround  :)  We used Spectralock and let me just say...you've gotta work pretty quickly when you use that stuff.  It's an epoxy grout...never needs to be sealed..resists stains, mold & mildew...so hopefully it was worth it.  It wasn't cheap either...I think we spent $100 on grout alone!!

I had to have Kade do the "up high" parts again...he's so lucky that he's tall  :)

Here I am cleaning up the grout haze before it's too late.

DONE!!  Now I've just got to paint around the top and caulk the edges & corners!!

Wow, I am so glad that we've got that done! (and I'm so glad that I decided I wanted hardwood floor int he bathroom with my clawfoot tub, lol!!)

A Whirlwind Day

Today I went on a whirlwind trip to look for another vanity.  I'm worrying now about the sewing base, and am afraid it's not going to be able to be fixed.  (Ya think I worry a little??)  Well, I didn't find anything at all to use for a vanity...but I did spy this cute little table.  We're going to need one in the basement to put a lamp on...so I figured I might as well find out how much it is.  No price sticker anywhere....so they had to call the person that had that booth...

her response...$45!!  WHAT...I'll take it!!  :)

So now it's my cute little table.  Haven't decided yet if I'm going to leave it chippy or strip it down to the bare wood.  Hmmm...something to WORRY about, lol.

I thought this detail was just so cute...and I couldn't believe it was in such good shape for $45!

In that same booth they had this cute old metal bread box...$30.

It's in great shape too (I need to remember that booth!!)
I'm ready to start decorating...and I MEAN NOW!!!

So here's the tile that I grouted last night...I like it...it's very calm.  I think it will look awesome with that dresser/vanity that I'm working on.

We had some visitors tonight too...eating apples...I'm glad SOMETHING is eating them, cause we're not.  Next year we'll have to figure out what to do with them.  I think the trees are just past their prime and need to be replaced  :(
